Hi everyone! Welcome to the Sisters Vegan, a "how we learned to stop worrying and love veganism" joint effort blog project by myself, Meg (aka herbstsonne on the Vegan Freak forums) and my younger sister, Kelly. Both being relatively new vegans (me: 6 months, Kelly: 1 month), we thought it would be fun to chronicle the trials and tribulations (or utter lack thereof) of being vegan, as a helpful supplement for other new vegans.
We're going to post recipes, and food pr0n, and cookbook reviews, and restaurant reviews, and things we write about health and animal rights and vegan life and philosophy and family and things we've been learning. And of course, Kelly's amazing artses. And basically anything else we damn well feel like.
So! Seeing as how no one likes blather but everyone likes cookies, here's the lemon poppyseed crackle cookies from Dreena Burton's Eat, Drink, & Be Vegan! that I made last night. Everything I've made from the cookbook, which I got for Christmas, has been amazing. JP (the vegan boyfriend) made the cashew ginger tofu for dinner as well.
So hopefully y'all will check back every once in a while and see what's new. There's going to be a slew of foodpr0n at first because I've been cooking and baking like mad lately.
